V0.03f (edits for or because of PAX!)


What a whirlwind month. Lots of prep to get ready for PAX showcase, followed by a smaller showcase at Portland's XOXO fest, and then trying my best to work on some of the notes from what I saw as people played the game. I wish I could say I got everything done from my notes, but it was such a big chunk I just needed to cut it off and upload a build for you guys! 61 items here!


WHAT'S NEW

  • Items now PHYSICALLY drop from enemies instead of having to "loot" enemies
  • When you drop your items they're visible in the world, so you can pick them back up if you change your mind
  • You can now drink DIRECTLY from water sources ( such as troughs!)
  • Enemies that die in the desert become skeletons with vultures around them when you come back
  • The overworld is now focused on using the map, with buttons to use inventory or view wanted
  • Added more shadows to various items
  • You can now access the game menu while navigation the overworld map
  • Player creation is randomized at the start
  • Updated the combat system! Enemies now attack at a more natural pace
  • You can no longer be hit by more than one attack simultaneously
  • increased the space between the boardwalk and the tie up fences in front of buildings
  • You can no longer push enemies
  • Enemies will avoid cactus and fire better, but not entirely
  • Changed the graphic for animal attacks
  • Bird will get in a comment before your tombstone hits
  • Adjusted the income from mining
  • Cliff edges are a bit thicker
  • Changed the sprite along map edges to arrow
  • Adjusted the size of random encounter maps
  • Removed black bandana, added "no bandana"
  • added bald option
  • Added no hat option
  • Your bird ally should repeat himself less often
  • Effect happens when you use items in inventory
  • Wolves are slightly more dangerous
  • You can now attack enemies at higher/lower height levels
  • Lighting effects are now smoother
  • Adjusted several overworld icons
  • adjusted knock back power
  • Changed the name of 'snake oil" to "cure all"
  • Adjusted the rate of food/water drain
  • Adjusted the timing between walk and run


BUGS FIXED

  • There should be less "back and forth" zooming when you encounter a wanted criminal
  • enemies now properly show their gun while aiming
  • Fixed a bug where having zero money would not show your money on stores
  • Fixed an animation bug where the giant robot wouldn't finish its attack
  • Enemies will successfully jump up and down edges better
  • Fixed a bug where accessing the game menu more than once breaks it
  • Fixed a bug where caves would spawn in the exit area
  • Fixed a bug where item icons persisted when you sold them or dropped them
  • Fixed a bug where crates and hay would spawn on important walkways
  • Enemies should stop spawning in hills
  • Fixed a bug where enemies spawn in fire
  • Fixed a bug where enemies would flip side to side non-stop
  • Fixed a bug where the giant robot could duel you
  • Fixed a bug where the rifle would get stuck "aiming" when holding a secondary item
  • Ores should no longer light sticks on fire
  • Fixed a bug where you could cancel enemy encounters
  • Fixed a bug with the way the Forts would spawn
  • Fixed a bug where the Y button item wouldn't have an outline, making it hard to see on the UI
  • Fixed a bug where NPCs would spawn in the walls
  • Fixed a bug where leaving a fort would cause a crash
  • Fixed a bug where a rifle would fire if using an item in the Y button slot
  • Fixed a bug where you could only approach river maps from the bottom
  • Fixed a bug where map names were incorrect
  • Your bird companion no longer zooms in from off screen when going to a new area
  • Fixed a bug where a duel could trigger after you die
  • Fixed a bug where enemies would just idle and do nothing
  • Fixed a bug where the game would suddenly take several minutes to save/load
  • Fixed a bug where a wanted enemy would spawn in town after you died
  • Fixed a bug where the ammo meter doesn't show for the Y button
