Roadmap to 1.0!


I mentioned in my last post that DUSTER is now on its way to 1.0. I also promised a roadmap of what I have planned to get there, so here it is! I'm going to keep it simple, as things can easily change as time goes on. This is just the general framework I will be following to bring the game to full release. You might find some features happen sooner, while some get pushed to later. At this point in the game its easier to foresee what each process will take but it can still be over/under-estimated :D

-----v0.1-----

  • Current version. You can play the game from beginning to end with all major mechanics, factions, and items in game. A good amount of events/encounters are in as well.

-----v0.2-----

  • Total UI overhaul. Removal of placeholders and expansion of many current systems.

-----v0.3-----

  • Mini games and *side* stuff. A lot of "juicing" will also happen here

-----v0.4-----

  • With the game pretty much built, the "final" version of the game intro/ starting town will be complete. Tutorial will be added.

-----v0.5-----

  • First Optimization pass of game, followed by a big bug fix pass. This will likely be the last public build.

-----v0.6-----

  • Final boss encounter finished. Last bits of content that is missing added.

-----v0.7-----

  • Second Optimization pass of game, followed by a big bug fix pass. Expansion of modibility/portability.

-----v0.8-----

  • Wrap up any loose ends

-----v0.9-----

  • Huge bug fix/playtest pass. In normal times the game would be shown at conventions around this point 

-----v1.0-----

  • RELEASE


Sadly I won't be giving any timelines until v0.5. It is extremely easy to underestimate timelines and until there is a more "final" version I don't want to box myself into a date just yet. Regardless, I am excited on where Duster is at and where it's heading.
